KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Parkside women's basketball team opened the 2023-24 season on Friday night, playing host to Thomas More University inside De Simone Arena. The Rangers fought through a slow start to grab the lead early in the third quarter but could hang on, falling by a final score of 68-75.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints got their offense rolling early, knocking down six threes in the quarter. Gallasova kept the Rangers in it, scoring seven points in the quarter. Parkside didn't make a three in the opening ten minutes, and found themselves trailing 22-13 after one.
The Rangers slowly battled their way back into it in the second, cutting the Saints advantage to 24-22 with 5:55 to go in the quarter. Thomas More built their lead back out to eight late in the quarter, but a three before the buzzer for Flauger cut the lead to 37-32 at the half. Flauger had eight points in the quarter, including a pair of threes.
Parkside came out of the break strong, grabbing their first lead of the night at 40-39 on a Gallasova floater with 7:51 to go in the quarter. However, the Saints would go on an 11-2 run over the next five minutes to open a double digit lead. Parkside shot just 8-23 from the floor in the quarter and found themselves trailing 59-49 after three.
Thomas More extended their advantage to 15 early in the fourth, but Parkside continued to battle, using a double digit run to cut the Saints advantage to just four with 1:05 to play on a Flauger three. Flauger had 11 points in the quarter for Parkside. The Rangers were unable to get any closer than four, falling by a final score of 75-68.
