Women's Soccer to Return Home to Wood Road This Weekend

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Parkside women's soccer squad is set to return to Wood Road Soccer Field this weekend as they will host two GLAIC matches. The Rangers return home after a road trip to Michigan where they faced Saginaw Valley State and Ferris State. The Rangers will look to bounce back after the tough losses to the Cardinals and Bulldogs. On the docket for Parkside are two tough matches with Michigan Tech and #14 Northern Michigan.

SCOUTING MICHIGAN TECH 

Parkside will match up against Michigan Tech for the first time since they first played back on September 17th. The match, played up at Michigan Tech, ended in a 0-1 scoreline in favor of the Huskies.  

Since facing the Rangers, the Huskies have gone 2-1-4, picking up victories over Ferris State and most recently Davenport. Over the past month the Huskies have reeled in a GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for week three in Midfielder Seulgi Lee and a GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for week four in goalkeeper Gracie VanLangevelde. Lee currently leads the Huskies in goals this season with five. VanLangevelde has been the top goalkeeper for Michigan Tech producing three clean sheets along with 46 saves this season. 

Currently Michigan Tech sits in fourth place in the GLIAC table and is a game behind #20 Grand Valley State.  

SCOUTING #14 NORTHERN MICHIGAN  

The Widlcats and Rangers last faced each other over a month ago on September 15th where the two sides battled to a 1-1 draw in the Upper Peninsula. The lone Ranger goal came from the foot of Emily Mikkelson when she equalized in the 16th minute of the match. 

In the time since facing Parkside, Northern Michigan has been playing impressive soccer. This week's poll ranks them at 14th in the nation, their best ranking since the September 19th poll that ranked them 13th which set a program record. The Wildcats have gone 5-1-2 and is on a four game unbeaten streak. The Wildcats enter the weekend after upsetting #9 Grand Valley State on Sunday in a 1-0 scoreline. Grand Valley State has now fallen down the rankings to 20th. The Wildcats goalkeeper, Jillian Thompson, brought in this week GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week after her performance in the previous weekend where she impressed with two clean sheets. Thompson currently touts a .774 save percentage while logging 1170 minutes, meaning she's played every minute of the Wildcats 13 games this season. 

Since beating Grand Valley State the Wildcats now sit tied with the Lakers for second place in the GLIAC. Saginaw Valley currently resides at the top of the table, but #20 Grand Valley State and #14 Northern Michigan are knocking on the doorstep just a game behind.
