Women's Soccer Will Hit the Road for Two GLIAC Matches

10/11/2023 9:00:00 AM

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Parkside women's soccer is set to return to action this weekend with two pivotal GLIAC road matches. The Rangers picked up a much-needed victory over The Purdue Northwest Pride this past Friday in a rainy autumnal match at Wood Roach Soccer Field. Alexis Baker's two goals in the match were enough to be recognized as this week's GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week. Parkside will look to carry that momentum into their road matches against Saginaw Valley State and Ferris State this weekend.

SCOUTING SAGINAW VALLEY STATE

The Rangers and Cardinals will face off exactly 14 days since they played each other at Wood Road Soccer Field. The Cardinals came out victorious in a close match, winning 1-0. It was a match that the Rangers were outshot in 18-8.

Since playing each other several, Cardinals have been recognized with GLIAC Player of the Week honors. Midfielder Sarah Fredrick hauled in Offensive Player of the Week honors after picking up five points in the matches against Parkside and Purdue Northwest. More recently, Defender Solana Kelly picked up GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors this week for her play in the previous weekend. Kelly not only played stout defense in the Cardinal backline but also notched a goal against Ferris State.

The Cardinals will enter the match looking to extend their five-game shutout streak. Saginaw Valley State hasn't conceded a goal since playing Grand Valley State back on Oct. 17.

SCOUTING FERRIS STATE

Ferris State will square off with Parkside once again 14 days after playing at Wood Road Soccer Field. The Bulldogs left Kenosha with one point after playing in a scoreless draw.

Since the match the Bulldogs have only played one match against Saginaw Valley State which they dropped by a 0-3 scoreline. Before taking on the Rangers on Sunday, the Bulldogs are slated to face off against Purdue Northwest on Friday.

Ferris State enters the weekend looking for their possible second and third GLAIC wins on the season. The Bulldogs are currently sitting in seventh place in the GLIAC standings ahead of the Purdue Northwest Pride.
