Parkside 80, Davenport 66
The Parkside women's basketball team hosted the Davenport Panthers in De Simone Arena on Saturday. The Rangers got out to an early lead, but the Panthers battled back and kept things close until the late minutes of the fourth quarter. Parkside found a way to build a lead late and the Rangers never looked back.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers and the Panthers kept things close in the opening quarter, with the Rangers leading 22-17.

Paty Gallasova tallied four assists in the opening quarter.
Both teams went cold to start the second quarter, with the Rangers outscoring the Panthers 5-3 in the opening four minutes. The Rangers proceeded to go on a 5-0 run to jump out to a 32-23 lead. Both teams heated up in the final three minutes and Parkside took a 40-31 lead into the half. Schoenbeck and Gallasova led the Rangers with nine points each in the first half.
The Panthers came out strong to start the second half, going on a 7-0 run and cutting the deficit to two points. The Rangers responded with an 8-2 run of their own to build back their lead. The Rangers shooting got hot late in the quarter, with
Alyssa Nelson shooting 4-5, and
Kendal Zeiter and Gallasova each going 3-4 in the quarter. However, the Panthers got hot in the closing minutes of the quarter, going on a 5-0 run to make the score 58-57 in favor of Parkside.
Gallasova got the Rangers started in the fourth quarter with a steal and score to increase the Ranger lead to three. The Rangers would go on a 6-0 run to increase their lead to 68-60 with four minutes left. The Rangers would hold their lead and expand it to as high as 15 before coming away with an 80-66 victory.
A LOOK AT THE STATS
Nelson led the Rangers with 22 points on 8-13 shooting. Gallasova finished with 20 points, six rebounds, and seven assists. Zeiter ended the day with a career high three blocks in the game.The Rangers shot just under 50% from the field as a team, going 30-61 on the day.
