Burnsville, Minn. --- In back-to-back weeks a Parkside Wrestling Ranger has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) wrestler of the week. In week nine, redshirt sophomore
Reece Worachek earned the honors, but in week 10 freshman
Troy Dolphin earned the honors for the first time in his Parkside career.
Dolphin was recently moved into the starting lineup on January 20th, 2023 and has quickly made his presence felt as he has gone 4-0 since the move. Dolphin helped the Rangers defeat No.14 UMary on January 27th thanks to his upset win over No.3 ranked Reece Barnhardt by fall just 1:39 into the first period. This was Dolphin's first ranked win in the 133-pound class. The Rangers went on to defeat UMary 31-9 on the road.
Just the next day, the Rangers traveled north to Minot State where they came away with a 28-9 win to move to 6-0 in conference duals and 8-0 overall on the season. Dolphin extended his win streak to four with a 9-8 decision over James Davis of Minot State.
The Kenosha, Wis. native has started his first season at Parkside with an impressive 10-2 record, earning three wins at each the Pointer Open and the Jim Koch Open. A graduate of Kenosha Christian Life High School, was a three-time conference champion, four-time sectional champion, and a four-time State place winner. Dolphin placed third twice, sixth once, and second in his senior season in the WIAA State Championship. The freshman's dad, Jim, is also a former UW-Parkside Wrestler.
Dolphin and the Rangers will hit the road once again on February 5th to take on No.10 ranked Upper Iowa in Fayette, Iowa, at 2 p.m.
