Baseball Drops Final Games Against Davenport

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Parkside Baseball team wrapped up their four-game series against the Davenport Panthers on Monday. The final two games of the series were not a great matchup for the Rangers, as both the hitting and pitching struggled.
 
GAME 1 RECAP
The Panthers jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning and added on three more runs in the third inning. The Rangers finally got on the board in the bottom of the third when Caleb Badgley singled to bring home Kurt Mlachnik. The Panthers then added five more runs in the fifth inning, making the score 12-1. Jared Heinzen homered to left field in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 12-2. Davenport tacked on two more in the seventh and went on to win 14-2.
 
Noah Gerritson was credited with the loss on the mound, moving to 1-4 on the year.
 
GAME 2 RECAP
The Panthers scored three runs in the second inning to take an early lead. Mlachnik answered in the second with a sacrifice fly to center field to score Heinzen. The Panthers tacked on three more runs in the third, making the score 6-1. In the bottom of the third, Dominic Esposito grounded out to shortstop and Hunter Weddel scored on the play. The Panthers then added two more runs in the fourth, and five runs in the fifth to make it a 13-2 game. In the bottom of the fifth, Ryan Brouch hit a sacrifice fly to right field and Badgley scored to cut the deficit to 10 runs. The Panthers went on to score one more run in the sixth, three in the seventh, and one in the eighth to win by 15 runs.
 
Phillip Harper was handed the loss and falls to 0-4 on the year.
