GAME 1 RECAP
The first game on Saturday morning started slow with no runs scored in the first two innings, but the Prairie Stars got the scoring started in the bottom of the third, taking the lead 2-0. Junior Reece Homan answered back for Parkside with a 3-run home run to give the Rangers a 3-2 lead. Illinois-Springfield then tied the game with a homer run of their own in the bottom of the fourth. The Prairie Stars continued to add to their lead by tacking on two runs in the fifth and three more in the bottom of the sixth inning, ending the first game #18 Illinois-Springfield 8, Parkside 3.

Homan's 3-run home run was the first of his Parkside career and was just one of the Rangers four hits in the first game of the weekend. Junior Max Bruff recorded his first double of the season in the matchup. Senior Nicholas Schouten takes the loss on the mound in game one after throwing three innings and giving up three runs on five hits.

Illinois-Springfield broke the game wide open with an 8-run first inning to start the afternoon meeting. The Prairie Stars only continued to extend their lead in the following innings with one run being scored in the second, and three in the first inning. 10 more runs were added by the Prairie Stars in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 22-0 after six. Parkside got on the board with a bases-loaded walk by redshirt-senior Kurt Mlachnik scoring senior Dominic Esposito. After two more runs scored by Illinois-Springfield in the home eighth, the Rangers got their second run home in the top of the ninth when sophomore Ryan Brouch walked, and scored senior Noah Tyrell; 24-2 #18 Illinois-Springfield.
