#3 Wayne State 70, #6 Parkside 65
DETROIT, Mich.- The Parkside women's basketball team traveled to Michigan to face the Wayne State Warriors in the quarter-finals of the GLIAC Tournament. The Rangers kept things close early, but a cold start to the second half would prove costly, as the Rangers season comes to an early end.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Warriors jumped out to an early lead at the end of the first quarter, as they jumped ahead of the Rangers 19-15.
Alyssa Nelson and
Hannah Plockelman led the Rangers through the second quarter with 9 points as they climbed back to go into the half tied at 27-27. The Rangers came out of the half ice cold, as Nelson and
Kayla Bohr were the only two players to score for the Rangers in the quarter. The Rangers went into the fourth quarter trailing 47-40. The Rangers battled hard until the end, with Plockelman and Bohr combining for 18 points in the fourth, but the Warriors were able to hold on for the win and will advance to the semi-finals.
A LOOK AT THE STATS
Nelson led the way with 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists. Plockelman finished with 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Bohr ended with 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Grace George led the way for the Warriors with 26 points.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Rangers will look ahead to the 2022-23 season, as they look to return most of the roster and bring in some impressive recruits.
