Nelson Moves to Second on Parkside All-Time Scoring List as Rangers Fall to Lewis

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Parkside women's basketball team hosted the Lewis Flyers on Monday evening in De Simone Arena. It was a tightly contested game, with the Rangers closing in on a win late. However, a late three sent the Flyers home victorious.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers got to a 18-17 lead in the opening quarter, with Lamija Coric leading the way with six points. Alyssa Nelson hit a three pointer which lifted her into second place on the Parkside basketball all-time scoring list, passing Brittany Beyer.



The second quarter with momentum favoring the Flyers, as they jumped out to a 26-23 lead halfway through the quarter. Nelson led the Rangers with six points, but the Flyers offense began to pull away late in the quarter. The Rangers went into halftime down 39-32.



Paty Gallasova got the Rangers going in the third quarter with five straight points. She would go on to lead the Rangers in the quarter with seven points. A corner three from Maja Leidefors brought the Rangers back within one point of the lead. After a pair of Flyer free throws, a three from Coric tied the game at 43-43. The two teams battled back and forth and went to the fourth quarter with the Flyers holding on to a 53-51 lead.



The Rangers retook the lead in the fourth quarter with a deep three from Courtney Schoenbeck. The Flyers responded with a three of their own to jump back in front 60-58. The Flyers led by five with three minutes to play in the game. A basket from Gallasova and a pair of free throws from Nelson brought the Rangers back within one point of the lead. A three from Grace Hilber put the Flyers up four and secured the win.

A LOOK AT THE STATS
Nelson led the way with 15 points, eight rebounds, and an assist. Gallasova ended with 12 points, three rebounds, and three assists. Leidefors finished with ten points and four rebounds. Sara Dax led the Huskies with 26 points. Hilber led the Flyers to the win with 19 points.

WHAT'S NEXT
Parkside women's basketball travels to University Center, Mich. on Friday, Dec. 9 as the Rangers are set to face-off against the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals.
