KENOSHA, Wis. - The Parkside women's basketball team hosted the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears in the HARIBO Invitational. The Rangers got out to a hot start, but a strong third quarter propelled the Bears past the Rangers for the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers jumped out to a 21-15 lead by the end of the first quarter, with
Sheridan Flauger leading the charge with a pair of three-pointers.
The Golden Bears rallied in the second quarter, using an 8-1 run at the start of the quarter to take a 24-23 lead. The Bears proceeded to build their lead to 29-25. Flauger closed out the half with eight straight points to rally the Rangers back within one going into the locker room for the break.
The Rangers got off to a fast start in the third quarter with a three-pointer from
Courtney Schoenbeck.
The Golden Bears would proceed to take over offensively for the rest of the quarter, outscoring the Rangers 28-20 to lead by nine headed to the fourth.
Alyssa Nelson opened the quarter with five straight points, bringing the Rangers within six.
Kayla Bohr tallied four points in the final quarter, but the Rangers could not close the gap and fell to the Golden Bears.
A LOOK AT THE STATS
Bohr led the Rangers with a career high 17 points. Flauger finished with 15, while Nelson ended the contest with 14 points. Nelson led the Rangers with seven rebounds, while
Paty Gallasova tallied a team-high four assists. Lindsey Becher led the Golden Bears with 17 points.
