EVANSTON, Ill. - The Parkside women's basketball team opened their 2022-23 campaign with an exhibition against the Northwestern Wildcats.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Wildcats held a slim lead at the end of the first quarter, as they jumped ahead of the Rangers 16-14.
Grace Lomen led the Rangers in the second quarter with five points and two steals, as the Green and White went into the half down 35-31.
The Rangers offense went cold to start the second half, allowing the Wildcats to extend their lead. Northwestern would outscore the Rangers 31-20 in the quarter to lead 66-51.
Parkside continued to battled in the fourth quarter, closing the gap to within nine points at one point. However, the Wildcats stood strong and held on for the win.
A LOOK AT THE STATS
Alyssa Nelson led the Rangers in scoring with 13 points. Lomen led the Rangers on the boards with five rebounds, while also scoring nine points and earning a pair of steals. Sheridan Flauger finished with a team-leading four assists to go along with nine points and three rebounds. McKenna Armstrong and Kayla Bohr shined off the bench, combining for 22 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
