#8 Wrestling Wins Second Straight with 21-16 Victory over #20 UMary

The Parkside wrestling team finished out a 2-0 home weekend by taking down No. 20 UMary on Sunday afternoon at De Simone Arena. All four of the Rangers' ranked wrestlers got wins, including No. 9 Rodsean Graham and No. 6 Job Ayala earning wins over ranked opponents.
 
Sunday afternoon was the first Marquee Matchup powered by Upload Partners of 2022, which featured a high-quality broadcast for free on the Parkside Sports Network. The next Marquee Matchup is set for Thursday, Feb. 3 when basketball takes on Northern Michigan.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Parkside got out to a big start, taking a 13-0 advantage after winning each of the first four matches, which began at 165. No. 3 and undefeated Shane Gantz moved to 21-0 this season with an 11-3 major decision to open things up, followed by three straight decisions for the Rangers by No. 6 Job Ayala, Reece Worachek and No. 9 Rodsean Graham. Ayala defeated No. 9 Max Bruss and Graham beat No. 10 Matt Kaylor in a pair of good duals. UMary was able to get on the scoreboard with a decision at heavyweight.
 
After intermission, No. 3 Joseph Arroyo put Parkside up 17-3 with a 12-3 major decision at 125 pounds. The Marauders made it interesting, winning back-to-back matches at 133 and 141 including a pin, which brought the score to 17-12. Nathan Hensley came up clutch for Parkside, earning a 12-2 major decision to clinch the win for the Rangers at 149.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
The Rangers will hit the road for four straight NSIC duals, beginning with a trip to Northern State on Friday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. They won't return home until Wednesday, Feb. 16 against Upper Iowa, another Marquee Matchup powered by Upload Partners on the Parkside Sports Network.
