Game Recap: Softball |

Northwood Takes Both from Softball on Saturday

Game 1: Northwood 6, Parkside 1
Game 2: Northwood 4, Parkside 3 (9 innings)
The Parkside softball team was swept against a tough Northwood squad on Saturday afternoon, as the Timberwolves cruised to a 6-1 win in game one and won on a walkoff in extra innings of game two.

The Rangers will finish up the regular season on Sunday at Ashland before competing in the GLIAC Tournament from May 11 to 13 in Sandusky, Ohio.

Game 1 Recap
The Rangers were held to just one baserunner through the first three innings of play, and by that time the Timberwolves had built up a 4-0 lead. The Rangers made it 4-1 in the top of the fifth inning where sophomore Cassie Rutledge drew a bases loaded walk that scored sophomore Tai Gonzales, but that was the only run Parkside could push across.

The Rangers were held to four hits in game one, as senior Megan Aliverti, senior Jessica Miklos, sophomore Jadynn Powell and senior Alyssa Laxson all tallied hits. Hausl was tagged with the loss, going all 6.0 innings allowing nine hits, six runs and four walks with five strikeouts.

Game 2 Recap
Northwood took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning of game two, but Parkside battled back to send it to extra innings, but couldn't get it done.

Aliverti stayed hot offensively in game two, providing all three of Parkside's runs on home runs. She hit a solo shot in the fourth, and a 2-run home run in the sixth inning to tie it up at 3-3. The Timberwolves got a walkoff single in the bottom of the ninth.

Aliverti finished 2-for-3 with two home runs, three RBI and two runs. Sophomore Taylor Delgado went 1-for-4 with a run. Senior Tijanne Ross pitched all 8.2 innings, suffering the loss while allowing 11 hits, four runs and one walk with two strikeouts.
