Parkside 1, Northwood 0
It took 102 minutes for the Parkside men's soccer team to find their winner, but find it they did. When it looked like the two teams would leave Thursday with a hard-fought draw, sophomore
Edgar Heredia Victoria found redshirt-freshman
Bryan Torres with a back heel in on goal. Torres picked the ball up on the left side of the Northwood keeper, and slotted it through his legs to give the Rangers a 1-0 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Thursday's contest was a physical battle, evidenced by the five yellow cards handed out between the two teams. Parkside received three of those, while Northwood accounted for two. Each team had chances to take the lead in regulation, with perhaps the biggest one coming to Northwood in the 86
th minute when the Timberwolves striker found himself alone for a header at the six-yard line, but put it wide.
Â
The Rangers pressured the Northwood goal in the first overtime, but found their goal in the second. After recovering the ball deep in their own half and booting it up the field, redshirt-junior
Rade Novakovich fought off a pair of defenders to secure possession, side-footed it to Heredia Victoria, who found Torres for the game-winning goal.

HEAR FROM COACH ZITZKE
"We've had some good rivalries and competition with a lot of teams since joining the GLIAC a couple years ago, but one of the teams that definitely stands out is Northwood," said tenth year head coach
Jason Zitzke. "Whether we're home or away, whatever our records are, we've had some very fair, tough, physical, competitive battles. Any game we play against them it can go either way, and I think that was true today. All of the kids were competing, and we were fortunate to get the win in double-overtime."
Â
"Pretty cool to get the win on Parkside Day, and I'd like to say thanks to all our friends, alumni, and supporters who are donating to the Rick Kilps Turf Center challenge."
