Parkside softball earned a key win on Sunday afternoon, as the Rangers earned a split with No. 17 ranked Grand Valley State at Case Softball Complex. GVSU, who moved to 23-5 overall and 14-2 in the GLIAC, saw Parkside snap its 7-game winning streak as the Rangers moved to 8-16 overall and 4-8 in the GLIAC.

The biggest moment of the day came in the bottom of the sixth inning in game two, where senior
Dani Evans smacked a grand slam to put the Rangers up 7-2.

GAME 1 RECAP
GVSU's freshman pitcher Genesis Eggart was nearly unhittable in game one, as she held Parkside to just two hits and one run with 14 strikeouts. GVSU scored a run in each the first and second innings, then added two more in the fifth. Senior
Megan Aliverti hit her third home run of the season to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning, making it 4-1 GVSU, but that was all Parkside could push across.

Allison Hausl had the other hit for the Rangers, and also suffered the loss, going all 7.0 innings allowing four runs on four hits with six strikeouts.

GAME 2 RECAP
The Lakers took the early lead in game two once again, scoring one in the top of third inning, but Parkside responded by pushing two across in the bottom of the third. Sophomore
Taylor Delgado led off with a walk, followed by a sophomore
Brenna Konstanty double to right center. Evans and Aliverti drew back-to-back walks to push the first run across, then senior Jess Miklos drew another walk with the bases loaded to make it 2-1 Parkside.

After a GVSU solo home run tied it up in the fourth, Parkside took the lead back with a run on an RBI double from sophomore
Alex Wooten. In the sixth inning, Delgado, senior
Kate Czoschke and senior
Cassidy Prucha loaded the bases for Evans, who delivered with the grand slam, her team-leading fifth home run and 15
th RBI of the season.

Akey pitched a great game for the Rangers, going all 7.0 allowing just four hits and two runs with one strikeout in front of a solid defensive outing.

Evans finished 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, four RBI and three runs. Aliverti, Wooten, Delgado and Konstanty all had doubles for the Rangers who finished with six hits as a team, all of which were extra base hits.
