The Parkside softball team couldn't finish off the sweep of Wayne State on the road Saturday afternoon, as the Rangers earned a tough 3-2 win in game one behind a strong outing from senior Allison Hausl. The Warriors were able to win game two with a walk-off single.Â
Parkside will finish out the weekend's road trip against Saginaw Valley State on Sunday.
Game 1 Recap
Graduate student Megan Aliverti got the Rangers an early lead in the second inning with a solo home run, her first of the season However, the Warriors came back to tie it up in the bottom of the second inning at 1-1. The Rangers were able to score again in the sixth inning when senior Alyssa Laxson drove in Aliverti and Hausl with a double to right center. Parkside's clean defense and a great outing from Hausl held the Warriors to two runs as Hausl was able to get out of a jam in the seventh inning that featured the tying run on base.
Parkside finished with eight hits as Hausl also went 2-for-3 with a run along with her strong pitching performance, which finished at 7.0 innings, seven hits, two runs and three strikeouts. Six other Rangers finished with a hit, including Aliverti with her home run and Laxson with her double and two RBI.Â
Game 2 RecapÂ
The Rangers gained the lead in the second inning when senior Jessica Miklos, Aliverti and Hausl all walked, bringing Alyssa Laxson to the plate. Laxson singled up the middle to score Miklos, sophomore Cassie Rutledge reached on a fielder's choice which scored junior Kiley Akey and Hausl on a throwing error by the Warriors making the score 3-0 early-on. The Warriors added a run in the bottom of the third, two in the fifth to tie it up and then won on the the walk-off single in the seventh.Â
The Rangers were limited to four hits in game two, as Miklos went 1-for-2 with a run, Laxson went 1-for-3 with a run and Dani Evans went 1-for-4 with a double.Â

Parkside will travel to Saginaw Valley State tomorrow for another double header at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. CT. The Rangers home opener is set for April 3 against Davenport at Case Softball Complex.
