HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers offense got on the board early in the match, with redshirt-junior Rade Novakovich scoring in the 18th minute off a beautiful double assist from Nikola Kesich and Dejan Rokvic.  The Rangers then extended their lead in the 32nd minute when Osvaldo Sanchez Arellano, who had recently checked into the game, scored a goal of a double assist from Novakovich and Rokvic.  The Rangers held the 2-0 lead into the half.  The Panthers cut into the lead with a 53rd minute goal by Tyler Welch.  However, the Rangers were not going to let their lead slip away.  19 seconds later, Novakovich found the back of the net for the second time, with the assist credited to senior Max Ludwig.  The Panthers made things interesting in the 76th minute with a goal scored by Matt Whelan.  The Rangers defense held out for the rest of the match and clinched a GLIAC title.

HEAR FROM COACH ZITZKE
"I first want to congratulate Davenport on a great season, they led the conference regular season from start to finish., and it was an absolute battle today to the very end as it always is with them.  I have a lot of respect for Coach Hughes and his program.  I'm very pleased with all of the guys in our program, from the guys who have been here five or six years, to the ones who are in their first year here.  I am so happy for them and I am so proud of all the work they have put in so far.  I want to thank the players, and their families, for all the support. Especially our number one fans, the Prpa family, who I don't think have missed a game, including the ones on the road.  I want to also thank our alumni for all their support and for laying such an amazing foundation.  Without you, our program would not be where it is today.  A huge thank you to the event staff for doing a great job, even with the move to Pritchard Park.  I want to thank administration, Andrew Gavin and his staff, for all they do to support us, especially the student athletes.  Thank you to my assistant coaches for all of the hard work that they have put in to helping improve the players, the game plan, and everything else they do behind the scenes.  We're really excited to have the opportunity to play at least one more game together."

WHAT'S NEXT FOR THE RANGERS
The Rangers must now wait for the NCAA selection show, which takes place tomorrow at 5:30 p.m., to see who they play in the NCAA Regional tournament.  More information regarding the Rangers' next game will be released in the coming days.
