11/12/2021 9:04:00 PM

Box Score #1 Parkside 3, #4 Purdue Northwest 2
The Parkside men's soccer team host the GLIAC tournament semifinal match against the Purdue Northwest Pride.  The weather was typical for November in Wisconsin, as it was cold and had a rain/snow mix from the opening kickoff to the final whistle.  The Rangers and the Pride battled hard, and it was the number one seeded Rangers who prevailed and punched their ticket to the GLIAC Championship match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers offense got on the board early in the match, with redshirt-junior Dejan Rokvic finding the back of the net in the fourth minute.  The Pride were able to tie it up in the 33rd minute with a goal coming from Isaiah Nieves.  Rokvic made sure the tie did not last long, as he found redshirt-junior Rade Novakovich in the 42nd minute for a goal.  In the 50th minute, junior Simon Eybert found senior teammate Max Ludwig for another goal to give the Rangers a two-goal lead.  The Pride were able to cut into the lead in the 58th minute with another goal from Nieves.

HEAR FROM COACH ZITZKE
"A really nice crowd and a great atmosphere tonight.  It was great to be back in the semifinals.  We came out and had a really nice response and scored a goal in the first five minutes.  We had three really good chances in the first 15-20 minutes of the game and we couldn't quite put them away.  A couple blocks and some dangerous corners but Purdue just kept staying in it and staying alive.  They came down and tied it up.  Just before the half we went back up 2-1, and got some momentum.  We got up 3-1 in the second half and then with like 25 minutes left, things got kind of crazy.  They pressed forward and made it 3-2.  They were just dangerous, and they were putting a lot of balls forward.  The final ten minutes we had to play them out and we were able to advance to the championship game.  Every game we have played with them has been like that, and it's been a tough battle each time.  Hats off to the Pride, those guys really battled.  What a great game.  We are very fortunate to advance and we're ready to keep things moving forward."
