Augustana 21, #22 Parkside 17
In Parkside wrestling's first action in 315 days, the Rangers dropped a tight match against Augustana in Parkside's first-ever dual as a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
It came down to the heavyweight matchup between senior Rodsean Graham and Steven Hajas, where the Vikings came away with a 4-1 decision that decided the match. The Rangers opened up in a nice way, with senior and No. 4 ranked Joseph Arroyo and redshirt-sophomore Lucas Schevikoven each earning a major decision to put Parkside up 8-0. The Vikings followed that with back-to-back pins at 141 and 149, then made it 15-8 with a decision at 157.
 
Redshirt-junior No. 11 Shane Gantz moved to 1-0 this season with a 10-6 decision at 165. After Augustana claimed the 174 match, freshman Reece Woracheck and redshirt-junior Job Ayala won back-to-back matches to make it 18-17 Vikings. Ayala won a thriller in sudden victory.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
Parkside will hit the road next week and face Northern State in Aberdeen, S.D., on Thursday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m.
