The Parkside softball team opened up the Captain D's Surf & Turf Classic against the NCAA Division II Runner-ups on Friday afternoon at Hill Stadium in Dahlonega, Ga., and the Rangers fell behind early and couldn't mount a comeback against the Javalinas.

WHAT HAPPENED
Senior
Allison Hausl got the start for the Rangers, and after tossing a scoreless first inning, the Javalinas broke through for four runs on five hits, all of which were singles. The Rangers got on the scoreboard and made it 4-1 in the bottom of the third thanks to a
Cassie Rutledge RBI double, her first career hit for Parkside.

After the Javalinas added two more in the top of the fifth, sophomore
Kiley Akey drove in freshman
Dani Evans on an RBI single, making it 6-2 TAMUK, but that was all the Rangers couldn't push across.

A LOOK AT THE BOX SCORE
Along with Akey's RBI single, she also pitched the final 2.2 innings allowing just one hit and no earned runs. Hausl's final line was 4.1 innings, eight hits, six runs and two strikeouts.

Offensively, Parkside had four hits, as Rutledge had the double and Akey, Hausl and freshman
Jadynn Powell all had singles.

WHAT'S NEXT
Parkside will battle the Javalinas again at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, followed by a 3 p.m. matchup with No. 7 North Georgia, the host of the weekend's tournament.
