Wrestling Goes 1-1 at Greyhound Duals

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Parkside Wrestling went 1-1 at the Greyhound Duals on Saturday, falling to Maryville to open and dominating Kentucky Wesleyan in the second and final dual of the weekend. No. 6 Airk Furseth and Pernevlon Sheppard both went 2-0 on the day.

Maryville 21, Parkside 14
The Rangers opened up the Greyhound Duals with their toughest opponent of the day in Maryville. After the Saints took the 125 match behind their lone ranked wrestler, Parkside ripped off four straight wins to jump out to a 14-3 advantage. Furseth earned a major decision, followed by a decision by Sheppard, a major decision by Nathan Hensley and a decision by Subhan Umar. Unfortunately, the Saints finished the dual winning the final five matches with four decisions and one pin.
 
Parkside 42, Kentucky Wesleyan 6
In the Rangers second match of the day, the Panthers only took wins at 149 and heavyweight while the Green & White dominated the rest of the match. Joe Arroyo bounced back with a decision at 125 while Furseth and Sheppard moved to 2-0 on the day with a technical fall and a pin, respectively. Jake Polka earned a major decision at 157, followed by three forfeits and a disqualification.
