Box Score Parkside 2, Michigan Tech 1
The Rangers extended their win streak to five after Sunday afternoon's contest. Parkside junior, and reigning GLIAC player of the week Delaney Benich scored two first half goals to put the Rangers up early. Michigan Tech rallied with a goal of their own in the second half, but couldn't put an equalizer up thanks to a stout Parkside defense.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Riding the momentum of a four-game win streak, it didn't take long for the Ranges to get on the board. In the eighth minute, a pass from senior Jazmin Castanon found Benich, who found the back of the net to put the Rangers up 1-0. Parkside didn't hesitate to double its lead when Benich once again put it past the keeper in the 21st minute, with assists being given to junior Michelle Benitez and freshmen Alexis Baker. The Huskies responded in the 59th minute with a goal of their own, but failed to add another, making the final score 2-1 Parkside.

HEAR FROM COACH NIKOLIC
"It's great when you see the team executing the details we've been training and talking about," said head coach Brittany Nikolic. "I'm happy the players are being rewarded for that work with the results this weekend. We have some good momentum now to take into the start of conference play."

STATWORTHY
Two goals from Benich now ties her with Baker for the team lead in goals, with each having four on the year. Castanon and Baker, each with an assist on the day, are tied for the team lead in assists with two apiece. Benitez also registered an assist, her first of the year. However, perhaps the biggest performance of the day came from senior goalkeeper Adrianna Bratel, who had 11 saves on the day.

The Huskies were on the attack and put constant pressure on the Parkside defense, taking 25 shots with 12 on goal, compared to nine and four for the Rangers. Michigan Tech also took seven corner kicks, while Parkside took two.

WHAT'S NEXT
The team will take their five-game winning streak into GLIAC play, as their opener will be at home against Saginaw Valley State on Friday, Oct. 4 at noon. Parkside will stay home for the weekend and continue conference play when they take on Ashland on Sunday, Oct. 6 at noon.
