Parkside baseball finished out the 2019 season in an odd way, battling Milwaukee to a 5-5 tie after the game was called due to facility curfew at Kapco Park. Parkside's bullpen was strong for the final 6.0 innings, allowing just one run. Parkside scored three runs in the eighth and ninth combined, but the Panthers answered with a run in the bottom of the ninth to send it to extra innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers jumped out in front early, taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the third thanks to a
Noah Tyrrell RBI single that scored
Bryce Inman and a
Shawn Rigsby RBI fielder's choice.
MKE came back to score a run in the bottom of the fifth to make it 2-1 and then took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the fifth after a two-run single and an error.
Parkside scored the next three runs of the game to take a 5-4 lead in the top of the ninth.
Ricky West and
Lane Ochs each had RBI singles in the eighth while Rigsby scored a run on a bunt in the ninth to give Parkside the lead.
The Panthers scored a run in the bottom of the ninth to tie it up at 5-5 and the teams both went scoreless for the next 3.0 innings.
STATWORTHY
Jarrett Rossiano got the start for Parkside, and the senior went 6.0 innings allowing one earned run. The bullpen was solid for the Rangers all night, as the trio of
Jake Macaluso,
Matt Helwig and
Nicholas Rana combined to pitch 6.0 innings and allowed two hits with six strikeouts. Helwig went 3.0 innings of scoreless baseball.
Justin Bennett went 2-for-5 while West finished 2-for-4.
