It was a beautiful day for the Parkside Rangers GLIAC home opener against the Pride of Purdue Northwest (PNW), however, the conference opponent managed to take both games in the doubleheader.
Game 1: Purdue Northwest 10, Parkside 0
The Pride jumped out to a early lead after loading the bases with three consecutive walks to start the game. PNW manufactured runs to get on the board with a 2-0 lead and kept it for the rest of the game. The Pride scored eight more runs throughout the game, run-ruling the Rangers in the sixth inning.
How it Happened
Opposing pitcher Courtney Blackwell found her groove and shutdown the Ranger offense by giving up only four hits with three strikeouts in six innings.
Allison Hausl started the game for the Rangers, pitching 3.1 innings, yielding five runs with four of them earned.
Alyssa Hrncar and
Alyssa McClelland pitched in relief for Parkside.
Megan Aliverti,
Morgan Sikon,
Adrien Hall and
Jessica Crull all registered one hit for Parkside.
Kellie Fenza got on base twice, drawing two walks.
Game 2: Purdue Northwest 15, Parkside 2
Parkside got on the scoreboard early and tested the Pride's four runs in the first inning with two runs of their own, driven in by a double from Crull. The hit down the right field line brought home Fenza and Hall for the Rangers, but this would be the only time Parkside crossed the plate.
How it Happened
