Women's Soccer Punches Ticket to GLIAC Tournament

Parkside 2, Purdue Northwest 1 (OT)
Women's soccer is on to postseason play on a game-winning overtime goal from junior Michelle Benitez. The goal and win ensured that Parkside qualified to play in the GLIAC tournament. The team will play their quarterfinal game at Saginaw Valley State on Sunday, Nov. 10.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Parkside knew they needed a result to qualify, and they jumped out in front early on a long-range strike from junior Delaney Benich. The goal put the Rangers up 1-0 and was Benich's team-leading sixth goal of the season. Parkside held that 1-0 lead for over 70 minutes when the Pride equalized and put the Rangers post-season birth at odds. Neither team scored at the end of regulation, and they game went into overtime at 1-1. It didn't take long for the Rangers to find their winner in the extra period, when Benítez scored her first goal of the year, and sent Parkside to the GLIAC tournament.

HEAR FROM COACH NIKOLIC
"We've been working with our outside backs a lot on getting up the field more so it was great to see Michelle get the game winner," said head coach Brittany Nikolic. "The result put us into the conference tournament and we look forward taking on Ashland."
