Even after a late decision to change venues, the top-seeded Parkside men's soccer team earned a spot in the GLIAC Championship game thanks in large part to redshirt-sophomore
Jack Mittelsteadt, who scored all four goals for the Rangers in the 4-2 win over No. 4 seeded Northwood. Mittelsteadt tied 10 other players in NCAA Division II this season for the most goals scored in a game during the 2019 campaign. Three players in Parkside history have scored five goals in a game.

The game was moved to Art Keller Field on the campus of Carthage College due to field conditions at Wood Road Field; The GLIAC Championship is set for noon on Sunday, Nov. 17 at Art Keller Field.

CHAMPIONSHIP HOPES
Parkside, who claimed the GLIAC Regular Season title with a record of 11-5-2 overall and 9-2-2 in the conference, will look to claim its first ever GLIAC Tournament Championship on Sunday. The Rangers won the GLVC Tournament in 2000.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The game went scoreless for the first 35-minutes, until Mittelsteadt struck for his first goal of the game in the 36
th minute. He took a pass from
Tode Atlija, beat the defender on the left side of the box and put Parkside up 1-0. Less than 5-minutes later, Mittelsteadt tallied his second goal of the game to put Parkside up 2-0, this time thanks to an assist from senior
Burim Huseini.

It took to the second half when Mittelsteadt scored his third and fourth goals of the game in the first 5-minutes, putting the Rangers up 4-0. Sophomore
Henry Bruer got the assist on the third goal while
Max Ludwig and Huseini were credited with assists on the fourth.

The Timberwolves responded with a quick goal in the 49
th minute, making it 4-1 and then added another in the 74
th to bring it to 4-2.

STATWORTHY
Mittelsteadt, a First Team All-GLIAC honoree, finished with a career-high four goals, while the Second Team All-GLIAC honoree Huseini had a pair of assists. First Team All-GLIAC
Henry Bruer and Ludwig all had assists. Mittelsteadt had a team-high five shots while Atlija added four.

2019 GLIAC Goalkeeper of the Year
Juan Gonzalez finished with six saves. Parkside had 18 shots, 11 of which came on goal. Northwood had 16 shots with eight on goal.

WHAT'S NEXT
Parkside will play for the 2019 GLIAC Tournament Championship on Sunday, Nov. 17 against the winner of No. 2 SVSU/No. 3 Davenport. Game time is slated for noon at Art Keller Field on the campus of Carthage College.
