Monday afternoon's match marked an early season GLIAC showdown, as Parkside and Davenport entered the game tied at the top of the conference with 5-1 records. The match lived up to expectations and The Rangers eventually found the winner on a late second-half goal from redshirt-sophomore
Jack Mittelsteadt. Parkside is now 6-1 in conference play, and sit alone atop the GLIAC standings.

GAME RECAP
The game started with Davenport on the front foot, as they took 11 shots to the Rangers three in the first half. Senior goalkeeper
Juan Gonzalez came up with multiple key saves throughout the half to keep the score level going into the break. The second half saw a more even shot distribution between the two teams, with Davenport again registering 11 shots in the half, this time to Parkside's seven. The Rangers took advantage of one of their opportunities in the 69
th minute when redshirt-sophomore
Dejan Rokvic threaded a through ball to Mittelsteadt, who put it past the Panthers keeper to give Parkside the 1-0 lead. Davenport came close to equalizing late, but Gonzalez again came up with crucial saves late.

Jason Zitzke. "It was a back-and-forth game, and Davenport created a lot of pressure, especially late in the second half. They are a really tough opponent so it's a great win for us."

Mittelsteadt's goal was his fifth of the year, the highest mark on the team. As mentioned earlier, another standout for Parkside was goalkeeper
Juan Gonzalez, who recorded a career-high 10 saves on the day.

The Rangers won the game despite being outshot on the day, they took 10 shots with three on goal, while Davenport took 22 shots with 10 on goal. There were also seven cards given out on the day, with the Rangers getting three, while the Panthers were given four.

Parkside will continue its road-trip when they travel to Purdue Northwest to take on the Pride on Friday, Oct. 18 at 2:30 p.m. The second half of the six-game road-trip will start against Upper Iowa on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m.
