LOUISVILLE, Ky. – In one of the most highly anticipated and highly competitive meets of the year, Parkside wrestling dropped a pair of matches to two top-10 teams before crushing Limestone at day one of the NWCA National Duals at the Kentucky Expo Center. Nathan Smith went 3-0 with three pins while Job Ayala finished 3-0 as well.

No. 3 Notre Dame College 25, Parkside 18
The Rangers stuck right with the No. 3 ranked Falcons until the end, but a strong outing out of NDC's middle-weight wrestlers proved to be the difference. No. 10 Airk Furseth earned an 11-5 decision at 133 followed by a big pin (1:27) from Nathan Smith on Jose Rodriguez, who came in ranked No. 8 at 141. After four straight Falcon victories, NDC held a 23-9 lead, but the Green & White battled back, as No. 11 James Lehman won by injury default over No. 2 ranked Tony Vezzetti and Job Ayala won a tough 6-4 decision at 197. NDC was deducted a point earlier in the match, so it came down to the heavyweight match where Joe Foret had to battle the top-ranked Kameron Teacher; Teacher came away with a 6-0 decision however.
 
No. 8 Lindenwood 19, Parkside 15
It came down to the final match of this one as well, as Parkside trailed 16-15 going into the heavyweight match. Early on, Furseth earned his second win of the day by defeating Tanner Hitchcock at 133 followed by Smith's second pin, this one coming on Tyler Wicken ironically at the 1:27 mark, same as his pin in the first match of the day. After Lindenwood won three straight decisions, Connor Price battled back with 3-1 decision over Jorge Guerrero at 174. Lehman dropped a nail-biting 6-5 decision to No. 10 Colton Clingenpeel and Ayala handled No. 11 Jared McKindley at 197.  The match ended with a 5-0 decision at heavyweight.
 
Parkside 35, Limestone 3
The Rangers dominated Limestone throughout, only dropping one match at 133. Smith earned his third straight pin while Joe Arroyo and Shane Gantz each earned major decisions and Nathan Hensley, Christian Robertson, Connor Price, Lehman and Foret all earned decisions. Ayala won by forfeit at 197.
