SOMERS, Wis. – The Parkside baseball team finished out its 2018 home season on Sunday, but the Rangers dropped both games to Indianapolis (19-2, 17-9) at Red Oberbruner Field.

In game one, Indianapolis was hot on offense, scoring four in the top of the first inning off a grand slam. The Greyhounds scored five in the third, three in the fourth and four in the fifth before the Rangers broke through with two runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Lane Ochs ripped a two-run double that scored
Paul Weise and
Justin Bennett, but that was all the Rangers could muster against UIndy.
In game two, the Greyhounds took an early 7-1 lead after the first two innings, but a huge five-run third inning brought Parkside right back in it. In the inning, four straight batters reached after one out including an RBI double by Bennett.
Rob Covelli came through with the big hit, a three-run home run to left field that scored
Dominic Esposito and Bennett to make it 7-6 UIndy.
The Greyhounds' offense stayed hot however, scoring eight unanswered runs before Parkside had a three-run bottom of the eighth inning thanks to a three-run home run by
Domenic Hammudeh, his first of the season that made it 15-9 Rangers at the time.
Parkside had nice games offensively from a few players, with Bennett going 4-for-5, Hammudeh going 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs and
Max Widmar finished up 3-for-4.
Parkside will finish out the 2018 season on the road at McKendree next weekend, playing two games on Friday, May 4 and two on Saturday, May 5.
