Box Score Leki Prpa (Wind Lake, Wis.) and
Abraham Kanneh (Aurora, Ill.) each scored on Friday as the University of Wiconsin-Parkside men's soccer team defeated visiting Bellarmine 2-1 at Wood Road Field.
Neither team found much offense in the opening half, with the Rangers holding a slight 3-1 edge in shots. Prpa made one of the Rangers shots count just before halftime, scoring in close after a 44th minute free kick from
Brandon Henderson (Lino Lakes, Minn.) for a 1-0 lead. Sophomore
Jack Krenzien (Wauwautosa, Wis.) also assisted on the play.
After the break, Bellarmine pressed the Rangers defense, and the Knights found the equalizer in the 60th minute with a goal from Chris Hunt.
The lead was short lived for Bellarmine, because a pass from freshman Max Ludwig found the feet of Kanneh for a one-on-one with the keeper. The senior delivered from there, blasting a shot with his left foot for the game-winning goal.
Senior
Nate Kitchell (Weston, Wis.) earned the victory in net for head coach
Jason Zitzke's squad.
Parkside returns to action on Sunday afternoon, hosting the University of Indianapolis at 2:30 PM.Â
