ST. CLOUD, Minn. --
Kellie Fenza and
Carly Dundee each had two hits, but Wisconsin-Parkside lost to Sioux Falls and Minnesota State Mankato on Sunday in the Husky Dome.
Sioux Falls defeated the Rangers 3-1 and Minnesota State Mankato topped Wisconsin-Parkside 12-3.
Dundee went 2-for-3 against Sioux Falls, while Fenza was 1-for-2 against the Cougars and 1-for-1 against Minnesota State Mankato.
Sioux Falls jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning against the Rangers, but Wisconsin-Parkside would claw back into the game.
Madison Manders led off the bottom of the fifth inning by ripping a double and advancing to third on the throw.
Danielle Crockett plated the Rangers first run of the game when she lifted a sacrifice fly to right that brought home Manders and cut the lead to 2-1.
After Sioux Falls tacked on a run in the top of the seventh inning, the Rangers put together a scoring threat in the bottom of the inning.
With one out, Fenza singled and advanced to second when
Jessica Shields singled two batters later putting the tying runs on base and bringing the winning run to the plate. Courtney Matthews, who went the distance for the Cougars, induced a fielder's choice groundout to retire the Rangers and secure the victory.
Sara Markelonis and
Rachel Seefeldt also had base hits for the Rangers against Sioux Falls.
The Rangers, who dropped to 0-4 on the season, fell behind 12-0 against Minnesota State Mankato before plating three runs in the top of the fifth inning.
Emilee Nelson reached on a fielder's choice with two outs to begin the Rangers rally.
Morgan Sikon followed with a walk and
Jessica Crull ripped a double to left that scored both Nelson and Sikon.
The Rangers added another run when Fenza collected an RBI single to center that scored Crull.
Wisconsin-Parkside will return to action on Friday (Feb. 17) at Winona State for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
