SOMERS, Wis. – The UW-Parkside wrestling team dominated in its home opener on Wednesday night, as the Rangers defeated UW-Stevens Point 35-6 in DeSimone Gymnasium.

No. 10 ranked Pernevlon Shepperd got the night started in a big way for the Rangers, pinning Steven Collins in just 26-seconds to put Parkside up 6-0. Tre'Vaughn Craig followed that with a pin of Jordan Weinzetl in 6:40 and Ben Hakes and Connor Price followed with back-to-back major decisions. Joe Foret earned a tough 3-2 decision in the heavyweight class and No. 8 Airk Furseth, Robby Mutimer and Frank Yattoni finished the meet off with a major decision, decision and a technical fall, respectively.
The Rangers, who improved to 1-0 with the win, have a big weekend in front of them, as the team will host the 46th annual Jim Koch Wisconsin Open on Saturday, Dec. 2 starting at 9 a.m. The team also welcomes in UW-Whitewater on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.
