Box Score Freshman
Emily DeVaux (Plainfield, Ill.) and sophomore
Maycee Kroening (Freedom, Wis.) each tallied goals and sophomore
Adrianna Bratel (Milwaukee, Wis.) earned a shutout on Sunday, helping the University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over visiting William Jewell on a windy, rainy afternoon at Wood Road Field.
The victory came in the Rangers' home finale and made Senior Day that much sweeter for
Taylor Burek (Homer Glen, Ill.),
Sarah Dobrowolski (Rockford, Ill.), and
Lexi Porter (New Berlin, Wis.), who were honored pregame.
DeVaux opened the scoring in the 18th minute, whose blast from near the top of the box ricocheted off the crossbar and in for a 1-0 lead.
The score remained 1-0 for the next seventy-plus minutes, thanks in large part to Bratel's ability to handle both the William Jewell attack and the elements. The sophomore had six saves in the contest to earn the shutout.
With less than 90 seconds to play, the Rangers added an insurance goal off the foot of Kroening. The sophomore received a nice leave pass from sophomore
Viktoria Silva (Jacarei, Brazil) and scored from the middle of the box.
For the game, Parkside outshot William Jewell 18-11 and held a 10-6 edge in shots on goal.
The Rangers will finish the 2017 season on Wednesday, playing at Missouri S&T on Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. Â Â
