SOMERS, Wis. -- Fresh off of its first Great Lakes Valley Conference win of the season, the Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball team returns to DeSimone Gymnasium on Thursday (Jan. 12) seeking to build off that win as it hosts Maryville in a GLVC contest.
The Rangers, who are currently 3-10 overall and 1-4 in league play, defeated Missouri S&T 78-64 on Saturday. Senior
Brittney Fair led Wisconsin-Parkside with a game-high 15 points, while
Lauren Boerger scored 11 points and
Asiah Lawson finished with 10 points.Â
Clarisa Martinez had nine rebounds, a blocked shot and a steal for the Rangers coming off the bench in the win against the Miners.
Wisconsin-Parkside shot 49.2 percent from the floor, while limiting Missouri S&T to 34.9 percent shooting. The Rangers also held a 40-34 advantage on the boards.
Fair leads the Rangers averaging 11.8 points per game, while
Blair Arthur is averaging 6.1Â points and
Shelby Cheston is averaging 6.0Â points per game.
Maryville, which is 4-7 overall and 0-4 in conference play, enters the matchup seeking its first conference win of the season. The Saints dropped GLVC games to Saint Joseph's and Indianapolis following a victory over Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras on Dec. 18.
Ali Ringering and Mary Barton share the team lead averaging 11.8 points per game, while Barton is averaging a team-best 18.5 points in conference play.
Wisconsin-Parkside leads the all-time series against Maryville 4-2 and have won the last two meetings. The Rangers defeated Maryville 72-59 on Jan. 16 last season behind 27 points and 14 rebounds from Stephanie Furr.
