SOMERS, Wis. (Sept. 2, 2016)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's soccer team continued their winning ways when they outscored University of Saint Francis (Ill.) 3-1 in a non-conference matchup at Wood Road Field.

Both teams had quality scoring chances in the first half, but the Saints (1-2) started off the scoring with a direct kick from the top of the penalty box.  The Rangers (2-0) had a chance to score in the final minute of the half when Brandon Henderson drove into the box with the ball as the Saint Francis goalkeeper closed in.  Henderson's shot went was deflected up in the air and Burim Husseini sent a header towards the goal that was deflected by the defense out of bounds.  Parkside was unable to capitalize on the ensuing corner kick, and found themselves trailing 0-1 at halftime.

In the second half, UW-Parkside fans thought the game was tied after Abraham Kanneh was all alone and sent one into the net, but the goal was called off because the ball had bounced up and hit Kanneh's arm on his way to the net.  A few moments later, Austin Stariha sent a free kick from 10 yards behind the midfield stripe on one bounce into the goal box and Alberto Gonzalez headed it past the keeper for the game tying goal.

Twenty minutes into the second period, the Rangers' second goal was a carbon copy of the Saints goal in the first half, but this time it was Leki Prpa with a free kick from the top of the penalty box.  The third Parkside goal started with a throw in from the right side, and then after clean passes from Antonio Gonzalez and Leki Prpa, Stevi Krecak beat the keeper on the lower right side of the net.

Leki Prpa led the way for the Rangers with 6 shots, 3 on goal, one goal and an assist.  Nate Kitchell picked up his first win of the season with 5 saves and only giving up one goal.

The Rangers open the lid on their Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule when they hit the road for their first conference rivalry matchup against Rockhurst University on Friday, Sept. 9 at 7:30pm.
