Bibal Backstops Rangers to Draw with Missouri S&T

SOMERS, Wis. -- Senior Remi Bibal turned aside five shots and posted a shutout leading the Wisconsin-Parkside men's soccer team to a 0-0 double overtime draw with Missouri S&T on Friday in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Wood Road Field.

Bibal posted his first shoutout of the season by making five saves on the afternoon. The match was evenly played throughout as both teams recorded 15 shots with the Rangers holding a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal and a 7-5 margin in corner kicks.

Both teams had opportunities to score in the first period. Missouri S&T leading scorer Felipe Andrade missed an open net opportunity at the 19:47 mark when he sailed a shot high and Ryan Shogren had an opportunity to score off a rebound for the Rangers but a Miner defenseman made the block.

Missouri S&T had another opportunity to take the lead in the second period, but Trey Haman hit the post with a shot at the 71:24 mark of the second period.

Shogren narrowly missed an opportunity to win the match for the Rangers when his rebound shot skimmed off the post in the first overtime session.

Shogren and Abraham Kanneh led the way for the Rangers offensive attack with four shots each, while Reyes Perez and Ben Kosmider each had a pair of shots.

Wisconsin-Parkside is now 2-2-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while Missouri S&T is 1-0-3 overall and 0-0-2 in conference play.

The Rangers return to action on Sunday (Sept. 18) when they host Drury in a GLVC match beginning at 12 p.m. at Wood Road Field.
