SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (Apr. 22, 2016)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside baseball team was firing on all cylinders offensively on Friday night, netting the program's best effort at the plate since the 2005 season in a decisive 23-9 win over host Robert Morris University-Springfield.

The Rangers eased into the contest, pushing across single runs in the first, second, and third innings before exploding for five runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to seize a 13-0 lead.

The Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the seventh with five runs but the Rangers answered with a 10-run eighth inning. RMU-Springfield scratched across four more scores in the bottom of the eighth before the game was called due to the mercy rule.

UW-Parkside's 14 hits came off the bat of 10 different players including DJ Peltz and Juan Bowers who both ended the non-league tilt with a trio of hits. Nick Sramek, Ryan Fischer, and Trent Muscat each racked up three RBIs in the contest with Muscat belting a three-run home run in the top of the fifth inning.

Kyle Schulz claimed the win, striking out two in 3 2/3 innings while Keaton Kastberg handled 2  1/3 innings, allowing just one hit and striking out three. RMU-Springfield's AJ Huet absorbed the loss, allowing five earned runs in 4 1/3 innings of work.

The game marked the first time since April 2, 2010 that the Rangers eclipsed the 20-run barrier and was the squad's best offensive effort since the 2005 Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship team laid 25 runs on Cardinal Stritch University on April 19 of that season.

Parkside remains in Springfield for the weekend, opening a four-game set against Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division rival University of Illinois Springfield on Saturday at noon.
