Game One Box Score

SOMERS, Wis. (Mar. 29, 2016)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside softball squad returned to the win column on Tuesday afternoon, blanking nemesis Lewis University 5-0 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference showdown at the Case Complex.

The homestanding Rangers (4-25, 1-12 GLVC) got off to a hot start, plating three runs in the first inning. Walks by Carly Dundee and Rachel Seefeldt and a Kellie Fenza single loaded the bases before Caressa DeRossett belted a single to right field, bringing in Dundee and Fenza. Alexis Simone generated the third run of the frame, drawing a walk with the bases loaded to score Seefeldt for the early 3-0 edge.

Seefeldt extended the Ranger buffer in the third inning, collecting a leadoff single before scoring on a wild pitch. Jordan Nichols plated the contest's final run, blasting a single down the line in the fifth to bring home pinch runner Madison Manders.

Raegan Fingerman led the Rangers at the plate with a three-for-three performance as the Green and White outhit the Flyers (15-17, 4-9 GLVC) by a 10-5 margin.

Dundee tallied the win inside the circle, tossing all seven innings and striking out three for the shutout. LU's Lainie Schweickert was saddled with the loss, yielding four runs and walking five in 3 1/3 innings of action.

Game two of the scheduled doubleheader was halted midway through the seventh inning due to darkness. UW-Parkside plated three runs in the second and four in the fourth inning and enjoyed a 7-3 lead after six innings before the Flyers tied the game with a four spot in the top of the seventh.

Cassie Walek accounted for two of the Rangers three hits in the halted contest.

The Rangers are back on the diamond on Saturday, traveling to downstate Illinois to face GLVC rival McKendree University.
