ST. LOUIS -- Maryville got a goal in each half on its way to a 2-0 victory over the Wisconsin-Parkside men's soccer team in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match on Friday at Maryville Field bringing an end to the Rangers three-match winning streak.
The Saints got a first-period goal from Helmut Florencia and a second-period goal from Erik Schafer to earn the victory.
Wisconsin-Parkside, which dropped to 5-5-1 overall and 3-5-1 in conference play, was led offensively by
Ryan Shogren who had two shots.
Burim Husseini,
Jack Krenzien,
Issey Valadez,
Reyes Perez and
Alberto Gonzalez each finished with one shot for the Rangers.
Ranger goalie
Nate Kitchell, who had posted shutouts in each of the last two matches, saw him scoreless streak come to an end at 239:10 when Florencia scored 4:25 into the match off an assist from Sander Heieren.
Schafer tallied the Saints second goal of the match in the 52nd minute when he scored off another feed from Heieren.
Maryville improved to 6-5-0 overall and 3-5-0 in conference play with the win.
Wisconsin-Parkside will continue its roadtrip when it visits Missouri-St. Louis in a GLVC match on Sunday (Oct. 9) at 2:30 p.m.
