(May 1, 2015)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside baseball squad dropped both ends of its penultimate doubleheader of the season on Friday night, getting edged 7-6 in 11 innings to Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division foe Saint Joseph's College in the opener before stumbling 10-0 in game two at Augie Schmidt Field.
In the opener, the Rangers (13-26, 10-24 GLVC) battled back from a five run deficit to force extra innings but was unable to muster any offense in the extra frames, stumbling 7-6 in 11 innings.Â
The Pumas (23-21-1, 17-16-1 GLVC) pushed across a run in the top of the first inning before piling on four more in the second, seizing an early 5-0 edge.

UW-Parkside got on the board in the bottom of the second with an
Andrew Luscomb single to right field scoring
Darius Hampton. The hosts continued to chip at the deficit, plating an unearned run in the third before pushing across another score in the sixth off Hampton outfield single.
St. Joseph's bolstered its advantage with a single run in the eighth, building a 6-4 lead before a two-run Ranger rally in the bottom of the ninth deadlocked the score and forced extras.
Jake Kolasinski blasted a double to left field, scoring
Nick Janssen while a
DJ Peltz sacrifice fly allowed Troy BIttenbender to score to knot the game at 6-6.
After a scoreless 10th, SJC broke through in the 11th, utilizing a triple to plate the winning score while the Rangers were struck out in order in the bottom of the frame to give the visitors the win.
Parkside outhit Saint Joe's in the opener, collecting 11 hits including three off the bat of Kolasinski.
Reliever
John Perez suffered the loss, allowing one run in one inning of action while SJC's Robert Kametas emerged with the win, striking out six in three innings of action.
In game two, the Pumas again struck early, plating a single run in the top of the first. The score remained 1-0 until the sixth when a misjudged fly ball landed in fair territory, scoring two runs to pad the Puma lead.
St. Joseph's continued to pour on runs with seven more in the seventh to secure the day one sweep.
Bittenbender led the Ranger offense, collecting two of the squad's three hits on the night.
Tyler Jandron was hit with the loss, striking out eight in six innings of labor while SJC's Jordan Peterson tallied the complete game shutout, allowing six base runners and fanning nine.
The Rangers close out their 2015 campaign tomorrow, hosting the Pumas in a twinbill at Oberbruner Field with first pitch slated for 12 p.m.
