SOMERS, Wis. (Apr. 30, 2015)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside baseball squad caps off its 2015 season this weekend, hosting Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division nemesis Saint Joseph's College in a four-game set.

The series gets underway on Friday afternoon with the two teams playing a doubleheader under the lights at Carthage College's Augie Schmidt Field. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. The series concludes on Saturday with the Rangers and Pumas squaring off at noon at Oberbruner Field.

About the Rangers: UW-Parkside (13-24, 10-22 GLVC) came up empty handed in its final road trip of the season last week, dropping four games to GLVC East Division leading University of Indianapolis before picking up a pair of midweek wins at the expense of NAIA foes Cardinal Stritch University and Saint Xavier University.

Against UIndy last Friday, the Rangers has the tying run at the plate in both games before eventually coming up short 6-5 and 2-1 while the host Greyhounds raced past Parkside 5-0 and 12-1 the following day to close the series.

UW-Parkside rebounded on Tuesday, crushing Cardinal Stritch 14-4 after collecting 17 hits in the game. The Rangers jumped out to an early lead, piling on three runs in the bottom of the first and staking an 8-0 edge after four innings of play.

DJ Peltz had a big game at the plate, finishing four-for-five at the plate while Jake Kolasinski drove in four runs.

On the mound, Nicholas Rana tallied the win, striking out four and allowing no earned runs in five innings of action.

On Wednesday, the Rangers scored the opening six runs of the game at Simmons Field, cruising past Saint Xavier 6-1. Parkside threw six pitchers over the course of the nine inning affair, combining for 11 strikeouts. Six of the 11 punchouts came from the arm of Joseph Plaud who tossed the opening four innings and allowed no runs and just three hits.

Ryan Ruediger led the Green and White offensively, scoring two runs and finishing two-for-four at the plate.

Kolasinski is the Rangers top hitter, sporting a .317 batting average with 12 extra base hits, six home runs, and 30 RBIs. Peltz has driven in 15 runs while Troy Bittenbender has scored a team-leading 28 runs while stealing 16 bags in 2015.

On the mound, Josh Serio is the workhorse, tossing a team-high 58 innings and striking out 58. The sophomore owns a 5-4 record on the bump with a 4.03 earned run average, making 10 starts and tossing one complete game. About the Pumas: Saint Joseph's (21-21-1, 15-16-1 GLVC) remains in the hunt for one of the final spots in the eight-team GLVC Tournament heading into the final weekend of the regular season. The Pumas earned a series split the past two weekends against East Division opponents McKendree University and Lewis University.

St. Joseph's swept McKendree 7-6 and 6-3 to open its series on April 17 in Lebanon, Illinois, but ran out of steam in day two, ending up on the wrong end of 1-0 and 5-4 affairs.

Last weekend the Pumas closed out their home slate against Lewis, beginning the series with a 3-2 win before suffering 5-1 and 1-0 setbacks. Saint Joseph's leveled the series in the final game on April 26, claiming a 4-1 victory.

Chase Fieldhouse is the lone Puma hitting above .300 on the year, owning a .347 average with 15 doubles and 18 RBIs. Riley Benner sports a .297 average with 19 RBIs while Josh Keim has scored a team-leading 29 runs during the 2015 campaign.

On the mound, Jordan Peterson has made nine starts, tossing a team-high 56 2/3 innings and striking out 63 with a 3.02 earned run average. Peterson has additionally gone the distance in five of his nine starts this season. Fellow starter Brian Bayliss Jr. has 63 strikeouts in 53 1/3 innings of action while relievers Bruce Anderson Jr. and Robert Kametas both own a 2.11 ERA with four victories. Kametas has made 19 relief appearances, ending the game as the pitcher of record seven times (4-3) while collecting all eight of the team's saves this season. Kametas has been a nightmare for opposing hitters, limiting his competition to hitting just .162 at the plate.

Tour de Kenosha: UW-Parkside has played home games at three different venues across Kenosha County this season. The Rangers began the year with a four-game set at Augie Schmidt Field on the shores of Lake Michigan while logging seven games at the on-campus Oberbruner Field. Wednesday's showdown against Saint Xavier was the third different home venue for the Rangers, hosting the Cougars at historic Simmons Field which serves as the summer home of the Kenosha Kingfish.

Regardless of the facility, UW-Parkside has been a tough squad to play in Wisconsin, netting a 7-5 record at home this season.
