Somers, Wis. (Apr. 27, 2015)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside softball squad lost the final two games of the season to Great Lakes Valley Conference rival Missouri University S&T by the scores of 6-2 and 10-8 at the Case Softball Complex.

The Rangers (7-36, 2-26 GLVC) got on the board first in the morning game off of a Courtney Ellingson double to left-center field and scoring Paige Harbord.  The wind was blowing hard to left field all day, and the Miners (11-28, 8-22 GLVC) were the first to take advantage hitting a two-run home run to left in the top of the fourth inning.  UW-Parkside returned the favor with the first batter in the bottom half of the inning, as Madison Manders hit a solo shot to left-center field, and tied the game at two runs each.

In the top of the seventh, Missouri S&T rallied for four runs, that included two solo home runs to left field.  Parkside could not respond, and lost the first game 6-2.  Becca Strope pitched the complete game win for the Miners.  Amber Ramos picked up her fourth loss on the season, pitching six and two-thirds, and striking out eight.

In the afternoon game, the Minors started off the game with a two-run homer to left field in the first, and that was prelude to how the rest of the game would go.  In Parkside's half of the second inning, the first two batters grounded out, but the top of the lineup hit four straight singles scoring Kalli Gosser, chopping the lead in half, 2-1.

Missouri S&T loaded the bases in the top half of the third, and cleanup hitter, Cailey Baker hit a grand slam home run to left field.  The Rangers were able to respond in the bottom of the fourth.  With a runner on first, Madison Manders hit a double to center field.  Jordan Nichols followed up with a single, bringing home both runners, and reducing their deficit to 6-3.

In the bottom of the fifth, and with a runner on first, Emily Hastings doubled down the left field line.  Kalli Gosser hit in both runners with a single to left.  With the score now 6-5, Missouri S&T pulled their starter, but Parkside was not finished.  The Rangers loaded the bases and Jordan Nichols reached on an error, and that allowed two runs to score.  This gave the Rangers a 7-6 lead.

The Miners got back all four runs they gave up in the fifth.  With two runners on, Andi Davis hit an in the park home run to center field, and took the lead back for Missouri S&T.  Shelby Michaelis followed that with a home run to left field.  Parkside was able to manufacture one run in the bottom half of the sixth.  With runners on first and second, Courtney Ellingson hit a single to left center scoring Kalli Gosser.  That was all the scoring Parkside was able to muster.

The Green and White left the bases loaded in four innings, leaving a total of 15 runners on base.  In the 10-8 game two loss, the Rangers out hit the Miners 14-8.  Courtney Ellingson took the loss for Parkside in their season finale.
