ResultsSOMERS, Wis. (Nov. 11, 2015)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside wrestling team won nine of ten matches against Concordia University Wisconsin in a 42-5 dual victory at DeSimone Gymnasium including three pin falls.
After splitting the first to matches of the dual, the Rangers' (1-0)
Brandt Welcher (157-pounds) pinned his opponent at 4:38. 2015 All-American,
Nick Fishback (165-pounds) followed up with a pin of his own at 3:50. UW-Parkside sophomore, 285 pounder,
Matt Halverson scored a first round pin of his own, beating his opponent in 1:06.
The Falcons (2-1) won their only match by technical fall, but three Parkside grapplers finished their matches by winning in similar fashion.
James Lehman (184-pounds) and
Ronzel Darling (125-pounds) both won their matches by technical falls, 17-2.
Nick Becker, at 174-pounds, also dominated his opponent with a 24-9 victory.
In the opening match of the night,
Pernevlon Sheppard (141-pounds) took his opponent to the end of regulation 6-6, and won the match 7-6 due to riding time.
Josh Anthony walked away with a 11-7 decision for the 197 pound class.
Joseph Her won his 133-pound match with a 12-8 decision, giving Parkside the ninth victory of the evening. Prior to the evening's matches, the Rangers took time to honor all military veterans for Veteran's Day, including redshirt freshman,
James Lehman. Lehman served in the US Army and completed two tours in Afghanistan.
The Rangers return to the mat on Sunday, November 18
th in a dual against McKendree University.
