(Jan. 17, 2015)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball team led wire-to-wire on Saturday afternoon, netting its fifth straight win with a 77-56 victory over Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division rival McKendree University.
The Rangers (12-4, 5-2 GLVC) tallied the opening six points of the game and owned a 10-2 advantage with 15:10 left in the opening stanza off a
Bailey North jumper. The Bearcats (1-13, 0-6 GLVC) minimized the hosts edge to just four but UW-Parkside responded with nine of the next 11 points, opening up a double-digit advantage. UW-Parkside took a 33-23 lead into the halftime break and led by double digits the entire second half.
Gaby Bronson led the Rangers with 16 points, eight assists, and five rebounds while
Maddie Johnston netted a season-high 13 points.
Tara Knapstein added 11 points off the bench while
Jessica Prince grabbed a team-high 10 boards.
Gabrielle Williams led the Bearcats off the bench with 24 points and nine rebounds while Caty Ponce and Danielle Amann-Stewart chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively.
UW-Parkside shot lights out in the second half, leading by as many as 34 points while shooting 62.1 percent (18-for-29) from the floor. The Rangers ended the game shooting 47.6 percent (30-for-63) while holding McKendree to just 37.5 percent (21-for-56).
The Rangers return to action on Thursday night, hitting the road to face the University of Southern Indiana.
