LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Apr. 27, 2014)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside baseball squad avenged a pair of setbacks from the day before, leveling the series by sweeping host Bellarmine University 7-1 and 6-5 in a pair of extra inning affairs on Sunday in a Great Lakes Valley Conference twinbill at Knights Field.

In the opener, it was a six-run outburst in the 10th inning that tipped the scales in favor of the Rangers (14-26, 12-20 GLVC), emerging with the 7-1 win. UW-Parkside opened the scoring in the first inning with Jake Kolasinski scoring on a wild pitch. The Knights tied the score in the fifth, plating a run on a sacrifice bunt.

In the 10th inning, UW-Parkside broke the stalemate, plating a pair of runs on a Bellarmine (18-28, 9-23 GLVC) throwing error before Nick Janssen and Kolasinski both drove in a pair of scores on RBI singles to claim the 7-1 win.

Eric DuCharme led the Rangers at the plate, finishing three-for-four while Kolasinski was two-for-five.

Mario Samuel claimed the win, tossing nine innings and fanning six batters. Joseph Plaud finished off the side in the 10th, striking out one in the three-up, three-down final frame. John Hakemoller suffered the loss, allowing three earned runs in 1/3 innings of work.

In game two, the Knights struck first, plating a run in the first inning before adding two more in the second inning. UW-Parkside got on the board in the third inning with Janssen singling in a run before Zach Cunningham scored on a wild pitch to close the gap to one run at 3-2.

BU added a run in the bottom of the fifth before the Ranger erupted for three runs in the seventh to seize the 5-4 lead. DuCharme tied the contest with a two RBI single before a Kolasinski single through the left side scored Janssen to claim the lead.

The Knights tied the game in the bottom of the seventh with an Austin Crutcher solo home run, forcing extra innings.

In the eighth it was Patrick Cottrell emerging as hero, blasting a base hit to left field to score Derek Tuttle.

Cottrell finished a perfect two-for-two at the plate while Kolasinski was two-for-four.

Josh Serio tossed the complete game win, striking out six in eight innings or work. Will Birch suffered the loss, yielding one earned run in one inning of relief work.

The Rangers return to the diamond on Saturday, hosting McKendree University in a GLVC twinbill at Oberbruner Field.
