KENOSHA, Wis. (Apr. 22, 2014)-- Fielding miscues sabotaged the University of Wisconsin-Parkside baseball team on Wednesday night, dropping a 13-3 decision to Division I University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the first collegiate game at newly renovated Simmons Field.

The visiting Panthers scored seven unearned runs in the opening four innings, staking a 7-0 edge after scoring single runs in the first and second along with two runs in the third and three runs in the fourth inning.

The Rangers got on the board in the fifth inning with a Nick Janssen single up the middle scoring Conner Dean who reached base on a fielder's choice. Milwaukee added four runs in the sixth inning, extending its advantage to 11-1 before a Jake Kolasinski single plated Eric DuCharme and Juan Bowers in the sixth inning. UWM tacked on two more scores in the eighth to conclude the scoring.

UW-Parkside finished with seven hits on the night, with all seven coming off the bat of different Ranger.

Cole Kroncke was tagged with the loss, striking out two in three innings of work while Tyler Thicke tallied the victory, logging three innings on the mound and allowing just one baserunner.

Parkside has now played at three different home venues this season around the Kenosha area. The Rangers opened their home slate at the on-campus Oberbruner Field on April 11 before playing at Carthage College's Augie Schmidt Field the following day. Tonight's contest was played at the home field of the upstart Kenosha Kingfish who begin their inaugural season this May in the Northwoods League.

The Rangers return to the diamond tomorrow at noon, hosting Lewis University in a Great Lakes Valley Conference twinbill at Oberbruner Field.
