BAYAMON, P.R. (Dec. 17, 2014)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball team dominated the local competition in Puerto Rico for the second straight night on Wednesday, dispensing the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez, 68-43, as three players ended the game in double figures.

The Rangers (7-2) tallied four of the first five points in the game but the Janes battled back, utilizing a 9-2 spurt to secure a 10-6 advantage with 12:44 remaining in the opening stanza. UW-Parkside answered with the next six points, tying the contest on a Stephanie Furr jumper before securing the lead on a pair of Lauren Boerger free throws.

The Janes (0-4) quickly reestablished the lead with a three on the ensuing possession but the Rangers scored the next seven points for a 19-13 lead with 6:40 remaining in the first half. Furr initiated the run with a three the old fashioned way, draining a jumper and a free throw to give UW-Parkside the lead for good, enjoying a 30-21 lead at the halftime break.

UW-Parkside owned at least a nine-point buffer the entire second half, gliding to the 25-point victory.

Gaby Bronson led the Rangers, collecting her second double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds while also dishing out four assists. Tara Knapstein came off the bench and added 11 points while Stephanie Furr poured on 10, all of which came in the opening half. Sarah Mlachnik grabbed 10 boards while Jessica Prince had a pair of blocks.

Ashley Fermin had 12 points and nine rebounds for UPR-Mayaguez while Ideslie Cardona contributed 12 off the bench.

Parkside enjoyed a 20-3 edge in points off turnovers while holding a commanding 33-17 edge in bench production. The Rangers shot just 38.5 percent (25-for-65) for the game but limited UPR-Mayaguez to shooting just 30.6 percent (15-for-49) for the game, including a mere 29.6 percent (eight-for-27) over the final 20 minutes of play.
