(Oct. 5, 2014)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's soccer team saw its four-game win streak come to a halt on Sunday afternoon, unable to maintain an early lead and eventually falling 2-1 to Great Lakes Valley Conference rival McKendree University at Wood Road Field.
The Rangers (6-5, 3-5 GLVC) seized an early lead with a goal in the sixth minute as
Antonio Gonzalez served the ball into
Evan Garcia who finished with a header for his second score of the season. The Bearcats (3-5-2, 3-4-1 GLVC) equalized the score with a Callum Kiddell goal in the 38th minute as the two squads headed into the intermission deadlocked at 1-1.
McKendree netted the eventual game-winner in the 49th minute off the boot of Aubrey Disseler. UW-Parkside owned a 12-3 edge in shots in the second half but was unable to find the back of the net, snapping its four-match win streak.
The Rangers ended the contest with a 17-7 advantage in shots, including six of the nine on goal.
Goalkeeper
Marcos Perez made one save in the loss while McKendree's Scott Armistead tallied the win, stopping five shots in 90 minutes of action.
The Rangers head to Saint Louis, Missouri on Friday to face Maryville University at 1 p.m.
