(Oct. 17, 2014)-- A goal in each half powered the University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's soccer squad to the 2-0 victory over Truman State University on Friday afternoon in a Great Lakes Valley Conference clash at Wood Road Field.
The Rangers (8-6, 5-6 GLVC) wasted little time getting on the board, scoring in the eighth minute with
Nemanja Medic finding the back of the net on a breakaway.
Eric Moser set up the goal, threading the ball through the defense for Medic's team-leading eighth score of the year. UW-Parkside enjoyed a 1-0 lead at the break, outshooting the visiting Bulldogs (5-7-1, 4-6-1 GLVC) by a slim 7-6 margin.
Antonio Gonzalez added an insurance goal in the 52nd minute, scoring his seventh goal of the year off a pass from
Jorge Ontiveros.
Truman finished the contest with a 15-10 edge in shots, including nine of the 12 shots in the second stanza.
Marcos Perez tallied the clean sheet in goal for the Rangers, collecting seven saves. His counterpart, Drew Garrone, made three saves and allowed two goals in the losing effort.
The Rangers continue their homestand on Sunday, taking on 10th-ranked Quincy University at noon.
