INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Sept. 15, 2013)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's soccer team yielded a goal in the fourth minute of double overtime on Sunday afternoon, falling 2-1 to host University of Indianapolis in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Key Stadium.
Thomas Diehl put the Rangers (2-1-1, 1-1 GLVC) up 1-0 just under two minutes into the game, collecting a rebound off a shot from
Elliott Schultz. The goal was Diehl's team-leading third of the season.
UW-Parkside's lead held until the 84th minute when the Greyhounds' (2-1-1, 1-0-1 GLVC) Casey Castle tallied the equalizer.
UIndy's Daniel Wellmann provided the game winning score, finding the back of the net in the 104th minute with Castle credited with the assist.
The Hounds enjoyed a 24-5 edge in shots during the contest, including eight of the nine shots fired in the two overtime sessions.
It was a busy day in goal for
Marcos Perez, collecting a career-high 10 saves in the losing effort. UIndy's Andrew Verhonik earned the victory, recording one save while yielding one goal.
The Rangers return to the pitch on Friday, traveling to face Quincy University at 7:30 p.m.
